The Golden Rule Revisited by R. Gerry Fabian

At the corner
like bolt of fate,
you take a left turn
to walk out of my life
forever.

In order
to seal the coffin,
within a week,
you send a text
marked,
“never again.”

The email -
your attempt at an obituary -
arrives shortly afterward.
I read all eleven pages.

Today
you call long distance
and inform me
you have to come
just once more
to finally get me
out of your dreams,

I wonder
what
she
will think of you?
