An old friend calls him
Out of the blue,
He can’t remember
The last time
That they spoke,
His friend is
Packing up his things
And moving out,
Going through
A separation
And getting ready
For a divorce
And whatever comes next,
He tells his
Friend that
He feels his pain
And that he’s
Really sorry
But the main thing
That he wants
His friend to know
Is that things
Are going
To get better
And that that’s
Probably not
Going to
Happen quickly
But at some point
There’s going to be
A glimmer of light
And eventually
There will be doors
And then there
Will be things
That he may have
Never seen
And at some point
He’ll see
The bright lights
And then
He’ll leave
The darkness behind
And as soon as
He feels
The scars
On his heart,
He’ll know
That life is
About to get
Very busy.
