Morning Sun by John Grey

All here and now enchants me,

along this wall,

along that wall,

calm in flux,

matter - humble matter -

and the summit of all being

sunning itself.

Tree by tree,

leaf by leaf,

it's a unique world.

I awaken in conjunction.

Between the two of us,

with coffee, toothbrush, stretch,

cheer ourselves in volumes.

Such clarity —

a yellow orb

happy to be sun,

gilt gleans slowly,

shadows hug me warm.
