Hope by Aurora Bishop

I hope this poem
finds you well
but catches you off guard.
You thought I had forgotten
the pressure of living under your thumb
jumping at shadows.

I hope this poem
finds you well
but reminds you I left.
You thought I was running from myself
all my perceived sins
but I was running from you.

I hope this poem
finds you well
but I’m petty enough
that I hope it stings to see me
living for the first time.

I hope this poem finds you.

  1. Thanks -very much- for stopping by my place, even though it is so far from being properly released into the wild!

This is a great piece you’ve shared. I really like the repetition, yes with those volta-like ‘buts’, with the devastating isolation at the end …
