On a Clouded Morning by James Piatt

On a clouded morning,

anguished memories

clawed at the shadows

of my heartache.

The present

was annihilated

as the sad memories,

of lingering

gray ashes,

were covered

with mental pain and

a silent emptiness,

and time

faded into the past.
