Disarmed (A Rondel) by Bob McAfee

The arms that used to hold me tight
are gone. I am alone.
On my right an empty throne
where once we sat bereft of sight

and ruled the minions of the night,
but now in darkness I atone.
The arms that used to hold me tight
are gone. I am alone.

Can it be that she’s embraced the light
and to the realm of day has flown.
The only comfort my dark soul has known,
my Ariel, my sad, embittered sprite.
The arms that used to hold me tight
are gone. I am alone
